Our story
Built by golfers, for South African golf.
We got tired of phoning around for tee times, scratching for a fourth, and arguing about how far that one went. So we built the app we wanted.
What we’re building
Shankdt is South African golf in one place: tee times and rates to browse, bookings at two clubs, community and a proper shot tracer. Every other club stays closed to booking until it has confirmed its rates and its tee sheet with us. We build the community side around the courses and turn every round into something worth sharing.
The name says it: golf is hard, everyone shanks one, and the point is to own it and enjoy the game anyway.
The long game
As our audience grows, we intend to promote tournaments of our own: a Shankdt Invitational, funded through in-app ticketing, hospitality and Pro-Am auctions. It does not exist yet, and nothing in the app sells it. Every feature we ship is a step on that road.

Is Shankdt available now?
Yes — the app is on the App Store and Google Play. Bookings are open at two clubs in the Free State — you pay at the club. At every other club, browse tee times and join the waitlist at shankdt.com or in the app.
How does the shot tracer work without special hardware?
You film your shot on your phone and mark impact and landing on the video — that gives hang time to the frame you marked. A full ballistic model (drag, spin lift, air density) turns it into carry, apex, ball speed and more. The line is drawn from the points you mark; the app doesn’t track the ball by itself.
Do I need a handicap?
No. You can browse, book at two clubs, join the waitlist and trace without one. A self-declared handicap orders open fourballs by how close they are to your number. You can also link your GolfRSA/HNA membership and we verify it by hand — the badge follows your name once we've checked it. Affiliated visitor rates are shown where a club publishes them; you claim them at the pro shop. Shankdt is not affiliated with GolfRSA or the HNA.
How do you make money?
Shankdt's booking service is inside the price every golfer sees — typically 8–10% of the club's rate, never more than 12%. We also earn from Shankdt Pro subscriptions. Where a club opts in by separate agreement, we can also earn a commission on discounted tee times we fill for them — that is a choice the club makes, never a standing charge. Clubs pay nothing to list, and keep 100% of green fees and cart hire.

Is my payment information safe?
Nothing is charged in the app today — a round booked at two clubs is paid in full at the club when you play, and every other club is waitlist-only, so we never handle your card at all. When paying in the app does open, card and EFT will be processed by Paystack, a PCI-DSS compliant payment provider — we never see or store your card details — and the payment will be split as it is charged, so the club's green fee goes straight to the club and never passes through Shankdt. Shankdt Pro subscriptions will run through Yoco when billing opens.
