Our story
Built by golfers, for South African golf.
We got tired of phoning around for tee times, scratching for a fourth, and arguing about how far that one went. So we built the app we wanted.
What we’re building
Shankdt is South African golf in one place: booking, community and a proper shot tracer in one place. We aggregate the tee sheets clubs already run, build the community side around them, and turn every round into something worth sharing.
The name says it: golf is hard, everyone shanks one, and the point is to own it and enjoy the game anyway.
The long game
As our audience grows, Shankdt becomes a tournament promoter. The flagship Shankdt Invitational is being built toward a co-sanctioned Sunshine Tour event carrying OWGR points, funded through in-app ticketing, hospitality and Pro-Am auctions. Every feature we ship is a step on that road.

Is Shankdt available now?
We’re in beta. The app runs on iOS and Android — leave your email and we’ll send you access. Booking is already live on the courses in our network.
How does the shot tracer work without special hardware?
You film your shot on your phone and mark impact and landing on the video — that gives frame-accurate hang time. A full ballistic model (drag, spin lift, air density) turns it into carry, apex, ball speed and more. Fully automatic ball-tracking arrives in a later release.
Do I need a handicap?
No. You can book and trace without one. A self-declared handicap orders open fourballs by how close they are to your number. You can also link your GolfRSA/HNA membership and we verify it by hand — the badge follows your name once we've checked it. Affiliated visitor rates are shown where a club publishes them; you claim them at the pro shop.
How do you make money?
The golfer pays one all-inclusive booking fee — typically 8–9% of the booking, never more than 12%. We also earn from Shankdt Pro subscriptions. Where a club opts in by separate agreement, we can also earn a commission on discounted tee times we fill for them — that is a choice the club makes, never a standing charge. Clubs pay nothing to list, and keep 100% of green fees and cart hire.

360+ South African courses across all nine provinces, and growing as we sign club partnerships.
Is my payment information safe?
Card and EFT payments are processed by Paystack, a PCI-DSS compliant payment provider — we never see or store your card details. When you pay in the app, the payment is split as it is charged, so the club's green fee goes straight to the club and never passes through Shankdt. Subscriptions run through Yoco. Paying in the app is being switched on club by club; until your club is on, you simply settle at the club as always.
