Delete your account

You can delete your Shankdt account at any time, and you never have to ask us to do it for you. Deleting is permanent — we cannot restore an account once it is gone, and signing up again later starts you from scratch.

What we erase

• Your account

  Name, email address, phone number, home club, handicap and GolfRSA/HNA membership number.

• Your sign-in

  Every device session, so you are signed out everywhere immediately, plus any unused sign-in code.

• Your golf

  Every scorecard and every shot trace you saved, including the ones shown in the Clubhouse feed.

• Marketing contact

  Any waitlist, enquiry or newsletter record holding your details.

What we keep, and why

We cannot lawfully delete everything, and we would rather tell you exactly what stays than quietly keep it. In each case below your identity is removed — what survives is a record with no person attached to it.

• Booking and payment records

  The rand amounts stay, your identity does not. Your name, email and phone are replaced with an anonymous marker that cannot be traced back to you. We are required to keep transaction records for five years under the Tax Administration Act, and VAT we have already declared cannot be unwound.

• Course reviews

  The rating and comment stay on the club's page under “Former Shankdt golfer”. Reviews are about the club, not about you, and other golfers choose where to play on them. Nothing identifies you.

• Photos you submitted to the catalogue

  Course photos you contributed stay in the catalogue, with your name removed.

A tee time you have already booked

Deleting your account does not cancel a booking. If you have a round coming up, the club still expects you — cancel with the club first if you are not going to play, otherwise you may be charged a no-show fee by them directly.

If you cannot sign in

Email mark@shankdt.com from the address on the account and we will delete it for you within 30 days, as POPIA requires. We will only ever confirm the deletion to that same address.

Your rights

This page exists because of the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA), which gives you the right to have your personal information deleted. Our full privacy policy explains everything else we hold and why. If you are not satisfied with how we handle a deletion request, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.
